Good towing box for 03 HO

I'm trying to figure out all the boxes! The Quad std. Xillerator 03-04 seems to be the most bang for the buck but I haven't seen very many reports on the std. box - mostly Quad Race and it looks to be troublesome. TST is too expensive to be using for a towing box. I can't get too excited about a pressure only box (EZ) so I'm looking at the Quad std. Xillerator or Juice. You can't get the full range of power settings with the Juice without using the Attitude - more $$$! The Quad std. box looks to be pretty trouble free (and so is the Juice) compared to the Quad Race box, which I wouldn't want anyway. So, I think the Quad std. looks like the best choice I've seen, so far. Are BD, VA or any others any different or better and in the low - mid price range? TIA! Craig

The Quad boxes are great and if you look closely, you will see that most of the problems are on the 05 trucks. I don't think I've seen any problems with an 03. I have towed with my Quad box and also with an EZ box. Any box is going to work great for towing. Just tow with it on the low to mid settings.

I didn't think there was problems on the 03s but I didn't know if they worked good either - sounds like they do. Thanks! Craig

If you aren't power crazed like lots of us then get a Quad Tow box. You can buy it here at the DTR store and I think if you call Lary your price may get even better. Plus it helps keep the site going. I got my Quad box here....

C - I've run the quad std, race, and currently have a juice. I like the behavior and running conditions of the juice the best. I didn't like that the quad box makes most of its power by increasing injection pressure and it was overall knockier/louder than the juice or stock. The cold weather protection feature of the juice remains even without the attitude which is nice. If you are getting this for towing, you shouldn't worry about the slight loss if you don't get the attitude...its all a huge gain over stock.

For the record I had no probs with either quad box.

Get gauges!

95% of the time when Im driving my truck it is towing something and you can see in my sig. which box I have and it works great for towing and no codes so far.My other choice would be the va 3.2 for towing, but the quads are hard to beat for the price.

Does anyone have dyno/egt numbers for a 555/48re combo with an ez juice or tripple dog running on just the lowest levels? Which one is safer in regards to fuel pressure? An extra 100ft/lbs of torque sounds good as long as it does not come with injector killing high pressure.

For a small gain towing box on an 03 I would use a VA C3.1. It is a 70 HP gain and most all the time gives a nice fuel economy gain. The Quad box is good also. If you are looking for a little more power there is the VA C3.2 which on the top setting gives 130 HP on an 03.

Talking Tst

I still think the best box for the 03 HO is the TST Powermax CR. Great people to deal with. Also I think they still upgrade them for free and you pay the shipping. Also dont do the tone ring mod.

Gotta put the box on hold til I pay for Christmas and the hauler bed I'm about to build. Then I'll see how rich I feel - like TST rich or XZT rich! Thanks! Craig
