good tire question needs an answer please !!

ok guy's i don't do any real towing so i don't need the 19.5 ricksons...
my friend got them and oh boy do they ride rough..
my truck already has a 4.5 inch lift in it and i went the way of 20's with nitto grapplers 35 in tires by 13.50 wide.. they wear out way to fast and cost 430 each to replace and the wide tires suck for MPG...
i sold them and put my stock tires back on and the mpg is 100 times better..
Now i know i need to get a taller tire again like a 34 or 35 but i dont want the wide tires.. i would love to keep it around 10 inch wide...
i have been looking but i can't find any...
has any had any luck in finding something like whati want????

there has to be something like it out there.....

I know supper swamper makes a 34x10 tire for 16" and 17" wheels. They arent a radial tire so I dont know how long they would last. 4wheel parts has them for around 135-140 each. hope this will help some.

Thanks For The Reply. Idont Think They Would Last To Long. I Do A Lot Of Highway Miles And Would Like A Tire For That.
My Friends Truck With The Ricksons Is The Perfect Size But Man The Ride He Is Getting Is Real Bad And He Has No Lift...
With My Lift I Think My Truck Will Rattle Apart !

Some 315's would be a little narrower, you don't really have a lot of choices in a tall narrow tire... Especially for a more highway oriented tread.

IMHO, width doesnt hurt you mpg nearly as bad as the hight.

I got my buckshots for 140 a piece and they are 33.9x12.2, but if you still got your 20s I dont think they have anything for ya.

Good tires though, ride good and so far no cuppin in 20,000+ miles even on factory wheels. Not the best lookin tire in the world but for that price I aint complainin.

Heighth is what matters on mpg. Are you figuring in that your speedometer is probably at least 10 percent off, therefore you need to figure that in to your mileage. On highway you can actually get better mpg with taller tire because you are turning fewer rpms. I have BFG muds on 17x8 american racing mojaves and the bfg is not near the width that my buddies are and they have the toyo m/t. They both say 12.5 but the bfgs are narrower. Also I got 52000 out a set of bfg muds on a 95 3/4 ton. Rotate every 3-4k

thats what i figured out kevin. my 20s with the terra grapplers sucked for mpg... they were 35 in by 13.5
i am now looking at 17 in rim like yours with the bfgoodrich tire from the hummer. 315 34.4 inch x 12.
this is the thinnest one i have found .
what size are you running..?
my friend with the rickson is enjoying the better mpg but says the trade off with the $$ and the bad ride was not worth it.
i had bfg on an older truck and they last a long time..
the terra grappler were gone in under 20k.....

My buddy ordered up a set of these a while ago. Sold the truck before he could tell how long they were going to last, but I can tell you when they sit overnight on blacktop or concrete they flatspot.

I put a set of 315-70-17 BFG AT KO's on my truck a couple weeks ago, the tread width on the ground is 10"s. They will fit stock rims nicely without rubbing, are relatively as quiet as the stock tires were. I like the lower rpm's and my mileage seems to be the same. Speedometer difference is 8%. That is the actual size used on the Hummers as stock tires. I mounted mine on H2 wheels so that I could keep my stock tires/wheels in case I wanted to change them back.
