I have an 05 with just a smarty. I don't do any racing or sled pulling, I just want my tranny to hold when pulling our 3000 -4000 lb. boat. And also to hold when I want to screw with someone on the street. So my question is what parts will be needed from goerend to make the above happen? I don't plan on doing anything more than the Smarty, mainly cause I don't think I'll be able to talk my wife into it with a baby on the way in the next couple of weeks. Also I called Dave on Monday and left a message, I know he is busy but how long does it usually take for him to get ahold of a person? Thanks.

He'll call you back perty quick. I left a message one day and the next day he called my back. I did enjoy the conversation, and was happy with the fact he called back in a reasonable amount of time. He even had notes from the last conversation we had in his computer. Organized!!!! That helps..... Still on the fence on what to do.

 

TexasCTD has been driving his '04.5 around on Level 9 for months now... no stock tranny issues whatsoever.

 

I drove my 05 with Crazy Larry for a year and no problems with the tranny.. I think if your smart and not doing 10 lb boost's you will be fine.. Just be practical...Power is nice and has a price and point!!

Thanks for the replies guys. My sister is buying the tranny for me, so I will be getting the tranny. The reason I want it is to be sure everything will be o.k. When I had my powerpup set on 90 hp and pulling our boat up hill it didn't take much throttle to get the converter to start slipping, so now with the Smarty and reduced torque management I am sure it will start to slip even easier. I am running on #7 and haven't had any issues with the tranny yet in the last few months, but I think it is only a matter of time. Especially when I hook the boat up.

 

TC and valve body would help. Doesn't sound like you'll be doing enough to tear up anything else.

 

TC and VB will hold a lot of power if you don't do high boosted launches.

rustyshakelford, she has a boyfriend but maybe you can persuade her in a different direction. I helped her build her new house this last year so I told her she owed me. And after months of pleading to buy me a tranny, she finally said ok.
