glacier pump started making noise
Yesterday, my glacier 392 pump started making a growling noise on and off that you can hear even over the sound of the engine. Up until now, it has been nearly silent, only heard with the engine off and you had to listen very closely. Could this be the start of a problem?

has approximately 30k miles on it. Called Rich and he says they shouldn't make noise. I've tried like hell to find my receipt, but no luck and you need it for warranty replacement. too bad they don't have serial numbers on them.

Don't worry too bad. If you look around you can find a replacement Walbro pump for just over $100. Thats a lot nicer than the stock pumps on these trucks.
My pressure regulator rattled a bit when I first got it but quietened down after the first day. Make sure it isn't doing something. Just a thought!
I think mine was just breaking in or something because it doesn't do a thing now, cold or not.

Mine does it when it's cold out at just before startup. I think it's totally normal as fuel is denser and there's less voltage at the pump due to the grid heaters firing away. Still gives me 20psi almost instantly. I have a pre-pump filter that I haven't checked in a few years also...
I think this is my third winter with the Walbro purring away....

Do you have the check valve in it? Is it working correctly? That would be one way it would lose prime. Draining the fuel back to the tank if the check valve is stuck.
