I'm not. All I will say is they were sure some beautiful in them boxes, and some really trick piping pieces.
No wonder spool is fast. With the BB aspect and the engineering into them.... wow.

It is true the BB turbos cannot be rebuilt in the same fashion that journal bearing turbos can. While it is not a "best case" scenario, Garrett has a program to replace a failed BB turbo at a deep discount. So there is some protection there.
As far as the reliability, I know of no hard evidence or data to suggest that these turbos are less reliable or more so than any other.

They can be rebuilt....... The only issue is when they go they are more apt to take out the compressor wheel. I have had my Garrett T3 rebuilt for my older Z car and also had the center section upgraded for liquid cooling. Being liquid cooled they will last longer. 150,000 mile opposed to 90,000 miles or so. A company called TEC out in Cali did mine for me.
