Thinking about buying the Garrett PowerMax GT37R Ball-Bearing Cummins "600" Turbo Kit. What is yall's opinion on this turbo? Is there a better turbo for about the same price ($1,900)? Thanks

 

Care to be a little more specific? I am unaware of a “600” kit, but Garrett does have some CR kits. The GT37R has 3 different versions for the CR (2ea 3782, 1ea 3788) that are designed for different truck uses. So which one are you considering?

The stage 2 is a great turbo. I have one and it has been great. I would look at Tom at Turboresource for it though. Many people have bought from him, me included and he has been great. He will set it up the way you want and has great prices.

I have the Stage 2 and its an amazing turbo. The trucks drives and runs better from stock up thru the 400 rwhp tune on the Smarty Jr. Tom at Turbo Resource is a great guy.

I paid about $1750, but they have had a price increase since I bought mine. Well worth every penny.

I have a stage 2 also and I can say for towing this thing is a dream. you will not be sorry.

I paid about the same as ah64id did. Tom is a great guy and the turbo is a very good turbo. A little higher temps just cruising but cooler overall when getting on it and when towing.

 

Thanks for all the responses! How much louder is the turbo compared to stock? Do any of yall have any videos of you truck on youtube or any other website?

 

It's louder for sure. I have 2 mufflers so I can't comment on the exhaust tone, but at idles its much deeper.

3-7 psi makes it howl, especially when the turbo/oil/air are cold. 7-12 psi is pretty quiet and 12+ whistles. Nothing crazy or annoying, but when you go from 5+ to 0 (throttle off) it howls like a siren!

Haha thats awesome. I wish I could hear what it sounds like from outside. My truck is straight piped so it might be a little louder too!
