I never go below 1/4 if I can avoid it, just a habit in case I need to go somewhere with no time to fillup...
That and I usually fillup close to work, so I do it on the way to work and hit them up when the prices are good when im close to 1/2 tank...
It does worry me about the pickup though, just because you cant run it that low if you had to. Im curious if people that have had the problem have tried anything to fix it yet and what theyve done...

Depends on how much trouble you have getting the fuel and electrical lines off, it's a little tricky, but if you allow 2-3 hours with the help of a friend I think you'll be okay.

Only if you have the factory in the tank pump.
If the lift pump is mounted on the fuel filter housing no need to drop the fuel tank.

Just looked at Glaciers site, I see what you are saying for the 03-04s...
Sounds like a better alternative to using the pickup on the 05-06 kits that run dry at less than 1/4 tank. Wonder if theres a way to use the older pickup in the 05-06 tank to avoid drilling and using their hose pickup...

I bought and installed a vent kit from Inner Truck and it works better than advertised. I can use a high speed fill (12-15 gal/minute) and get it within a gallon of full to the neck. I then spend another minute adding that last gallon.
As stated above, the effective capacity of the tank is increased by about 5 or 6 gallons. I have put in 40.3 gallons in a nearly empty tank. This gives me a range of almost 800 miles.
The installation was quite easy - but two people help a lot. The tank is bulky but not heavy, even with 6 or 7 gallons of fuel still in the tank. Just make sure you disconnect all of the hoses and electrical BEFORE unfastening the brackets. Also, do the rollover mod while the tank is down.

It's well worth the time... Just remember to get your fuel as low as possible to make the tank lighter when dropping it. Our '06s don't go 60 miles past empty like the other year models do. Learned that the hard way ...

Well, looks like the tank vent mod is worth the time to install. Allows for more fuel and faster fill-ups. I've purchased the kit and will run the tank near empty before dropping it down for ease of access.
I did the roll-over vent mod a few weeks back by connecting the two 1/4" vents together with a "T" and running a single 5/16" line from the "T" up to the filler neck with a bronze filter on the end for good measure. At least I didn't have to drop the tank for that mod.

Older thread revived and glad it was cause just yesterday I ordered my GDP 391 kit along with the vent kit so wouldnt mind knowing about the rollover mod as well while imunder there.

This is the first ive heard of the roll-over mod, but I am assuming its just in case you ever roll it it wont spill the fuel out the new vent location.

If you do the GDP and vent mod, you can use the old tank vent stub for the fuel return from the GDP. As far as the rollover mod, I used a piece of tubing to extend the rollover vent stub up higher with an inverted U. Craig

Yeah but what is it exactly? Where are you putting the tubing and why?
And yeah I had read before about using the old vent for the fuel return then you dont have to use that adapter thing that goes in the fill tube correct?
