Fuel Filter vaccum guage???

Before i knew much about the Cummins fuel system, i went ahead and got the FP guage out of the bottom of the fuel filter housing. I work on diesel engines in the marine industry and we have vaccum guages on our RACOR fuel filters to tell when to change our filters. When they get about -10 we change our filters. Is there a place between the filter housing and the IP to place a guage there to tell when to change the filter? Or is there something else out there that can be a tattle tale to change the fuel filter. I know rule of thumb is about every other oil change or 10k miles (some people do it sooner) but with a guage telling you when to change it (like my RACOR's) it would be that much easier.

Filter Gauge

Good question. I work with Racors daily, those 2020's and R20S's, on tugs and also wondered about putting a vac. gauge on my truck. I have'nt started diggin around on the truck yet because I'll be installing the FASS soon. I think the Fass has a port that could be used, or at least T'd into the suction line, not sure on the factory system. May have to crawl around there later today.

you could install 2 gauges, 1 before the filter, 1 after and compare the differential. you'll have to use a new filter as a baseline. or, what's the pressure with a new filter? move the gauge fitting between the filter and cp3(mines on the cp3 inlet). when you notice less pressure at the cp3, change her out.
