Mine is a long bed SRW. Before I added the Ranch Hand Front End replacement bumper..........mine was weighed in at a set of cat scales at 4560 front axle and 3200 rear axle for a total weight of 7760 lbs. with me, a full tank of fuel, and 5th wheel hitch.

I dont' think I would feel very comfortable with less than a 3 ton jack trying to lift the front end. The Cummins engine alone weighs in the neighborhood of 1000lbs.

I thought my hand was going to fall off turning that **** to unscrew it. Fortunately it finally got it long enough to actually begin jacking. I don't understand why auto makers put the sorriest gizmos in vehicles to use for flat tires. It's bad enough you got a flat, then you have to use the junk they call a jack and tire tools... I guess they want to make a simple flat as miserable as possible.

That quote above is why I bought a jack at wallys. I think they had a 2.5 ton 180 degree swivle handle (pretty cool) in a plastic case for like 19 bucks. That suckers in the tool box and I won't even bother with the one under the seat. Only good it's gonna do is when I need the handle to lower my spare. I know 2.5 ton isn't much but I'll trust it over the one under the seat any day. Like I said there very cheep, even a bottle jack is cheeper and I'd trust that much more than the stock one.

My roommate has a 2 1/2 ton craftsman jack. It lasted about a year and it blew the seals. Apparently it doesn't like lifting the front end of a cummins and holding it for 3 days straight.
