Fender Flare Questions - Damage - AKRAM ?
I originally bought some Bushwacker flares for my 04 2500. They look awesome. BUT i am a little concerend with the way they mount up specifically the inside edge being somewhat loose and not fixed other than a little rubber gasket. I think they may be rubbing my paint and causing some damage. Are there other flares that look like the Bushawackers and attach better. See m pics for the style that i am looking for. I sure don't like this too much, better alternatives, fixes ?
I've got bushwacker flares also, "Street flares" but mine fit really well against the truck. I had to really push on the flares along with the barbed clips to get it to snug up against the truck. Unless you ever take the flares off, you'll probably never see any kind of rub mark. If you look at my gallery, I think mine are a bit narrower than yours.
My wife got me a set of ATS flares for christmas and they look to be the same as the BW extend-a-flare. That looks like what you have. They come with a double sided tape to attach they top of the flare where it hits the truck.
It says on the instructions sheet for BW that you have to remove the cummins logo, did you really have to do this. I see the log still on...Also did you get the paint from a dealer to make them match. It looks perfect... Im thinking of adding them too...the reason I didnt was the pant issue and having to remove the CTD emblem.
Lucey, I haven't checked mine since I put them on so I don't know if they are rubbing or not. I did make sure they were very tight against the truck when I mounted them so they wouldn't vibrate as I have heard rumors of that as well. Mine do not move at all. That doesn't mean they may not rub through over time though. I have had mine on for a year now so maybe I'll take one loose tonight and check.
The Xenon flares mount using tape and look very similar to the Bushwackers, just a little more aggressive. I think they look good. I haven't seen any others in person. http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/s...der_flares.htm

Flares ?
Mine have been nvery tight ubtil i noticed one of mine moved away from the fender and i have a 3-4mm gap. I will take it apart and see. Thanks for the feedback.
All I can say, I had SEVERAL people tell me not to use a flare with the gasket if in the future you want to remove the flares. Reason being, they all had their paint rubbed off. If you never will remove them, I guess you won't see it. I went with the ATS Flare with the 3M adhesive. They have stayed up tight and I like em. My 2 cents...

Nonford
hey nonford do you have any side pics of your truck, i just want to see what they look like from the side. So the ATS have the adhesive in the tops and i assume they use bolts/screw on the inside of the fenders ? Thanks !
