fed up with quadzilla stuff
Maybe i missed it earlier, but why would you go to superchips?
The XZT boxes have been around longer than all of the above mentioned products. They are simple, inexpensive and they flat out work. There are literally a gillion of them out there running including thousands on these boards here.
No idea why it does not work but, I can just about guarantee you there is something else going on. That could be just the fact that he wants more power, wants to adjust his tire size or something? Who knows, it does not matter and that is why we have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee.
TB and Quad I believe have this nailed, there is more to this story we're not hearing. Try a different Quadzilla product, if it doesn't work get your truck fixed. Good luck w/ your Superchip experience, been there and did that. Holy crap is Superchips the generic of all generic and they could care less about their customers(BTW, they thought my 03 Cummins was a V8 and the 48RE was electronic and could have the shift points adjusted electronically w/ their tuner). Like TB said, look into their own forums and take note of the lies, promises and pisssed off customers.
I don't know why the quad(s) would not work, neither does quad tech. In the end they thought maybe the dealer locked the pcm on my truck so NOTHING aftermarket would work, I don't know, I didn't buy the truck new. The ONLY reason for my wanting the superchips was the LOCAL tech support. Anything else I am on my own(except for you guys). I shouldn't have to perform voodoo on my truck to get something to work, that's why I research til I can't see straight. My other option is to buy direct from quadpower but have them test it before I get it to make sure it works. I could also take a chance on smarty and get regular guages but if I had a problem I would be in the same boat as I am now. I don't care about tire size, all I want is a little more power for pulling my 11000lb 5er.

Read my sig below and I think you will see we are pretty similar.
I don't know how the dealer could lock out a programmer but if anyone can sort it out, Smarty can. I spent 10 minutes in the parking lot of MCS Performance out here learning how to set up the Smarty Jr.
Plug it in, pick 1,2, or 3, turn the key off on off unplug and grin. Slid my stock clutch on 3, 300 yards from the shop. Turned it down to 2 and it works great!
I looked at all of em for 3 months before buying this one. Best for the money. I read hundreds of posts, the Smarty is hands down best for a guy like you. I also don't plan on any upgrades past a chip. I know a lot about diesels and also have read volumes about what Dodge did to the 5.9. It's a long sad story. Smarty is the coolest running electronic mod in this range. The max mileage and such run cooler but for 60 hp, you cant beat it. I've researched countless websites and forums. Quad is a great product as is very well liked on this site but the Smarty crowd is now the "in crowd." Once you get past 150 hp, the electronics get very, very sepecific. Quad is probably one of the top high hp mods and often gets stacked with Smarty. Most all of the high hp trucks are stacking some combination of MP-8, Smarty, Quadzilla, TST, Predetor, or Edge. All good tried and true products.
Superchips, after reading all the forums, is NOT something I would do to my truck.
The biggest deciding factor for me was where does the mod make its power. Do you want a chip only makes power over 3000 rpm? Then Superchips will do that for ya. But others make more power than they do. But I rarely hit that number. I rarely get over 2500. So I wanted tho one that worked where I use my truck. Between 1200 and 2300. Ask any one for a dyno chart. Make em prove that you don't have to stand on it to "feel the power."

If you don't find someone local, all Smarty distributors have the same price. Be careful of Ebay or used units. No warranty. But there are a lot of used ones out there. I would post in the classifieds here if you want a used one. Most people around here, DTR, are good people. Just check their profile and see how many posts they have. DTR isn't very tolerant of a-holes. So if they have a higher post count, they probably are reliable.
Good luck and no matter which way you go, your truck is a sleeping giant. Wake it up with something and you'll love it even more.

quad may make a good product but i had one on the 98.5 never made a difference even took it to the in ft worth and they couldnt make it work believe i had to eat it. had the 3 way adjustable box on the 03 went thru 2 wire harnesses and 2 sets of injectors from it had plenty of power and plenty of headaches. had another guy install one on his 03 had same harness issues and code problems from the plugs felt bad that i recomended it. that has been my experience with their product
just kidding, but do support the site!http://store.dieseltruckresource.com/smtubymael.html
I don't think a "VinLock" would have any effect on a plugin module, right? I think that would only mess you up if you were trying to download a programmer. Mmarty, the Quad boxes are super simple to hook up so I am almost inclined to believe that this issue has something to do with your Commander and possibly how you have it hooked up. The box works through it right? I'm sorry I didn't pay attention initially when you said you had the Commander. Had I payed attention I would have pointed to your connections there as your first place to look....
good point on cheking the camnder,i have a camnder and ax2 race box, sometimes i cant notice any dif on levels either,i can see the rail pres is higher on the camder so i asume the levels are working but if i switch levels on the fly while under load i cant really tell the dif,i can from stok to level 1 then from there on i cant nocice much,i run level 1 for maxmilage tune anyways so if that works all is good.also could this be a case of expecting to much,i bought some 90hp stix for my 01 and i didnt think they made much of a dif,i was expecting more,so i got some 120hp ones and that was muchhhhhh beter, haha
I have a quadzilla,it's in the glove box!!! Keeps trowing codes and then slows down and then sounds like its trying to run backwards,Have to kill the trk restart it and go again. I guess they can't fix my problem either have sent it back 3 times same thing happens every once in a while! But in all fairness they did try and if I could make the thing mess up on command they said they would fix it so afther 3yrs,
I fixed my problem,PUT IT IN THE GLOVE BOX!!!!

I wont and never will run quadzilla electronics on my truck! if they cant even make a gauge that works how could they make a box thats effective? I still cant believe the statement that was made about the quad going to be a tst killer for the CR trucks when I read that I about wet my pants I laughed so hard
I've now have had 5 different Quadzilla modules on my trucks and yeah I had a RP sensor issue that was half my fault. You guys that have had one part fail and you run your mouths like Quadzillas junk need to grow up in the diesel performance world, your a joke to those of us who've seen a few things come and go. I dont claim to know half of what some guys do here, but I've seen what I've seen in 15yrs of owning/driving/modding diesels. JMO
