Red face Exhaust advice

I'm sure I'm beating a dead horse here. I did a search but didn't come up with what I was looking for.

So, I have an 06 quadcab shorty and just installed a banks ram air air box and was wanting to upgrade the exhaust. My main driving is some mild towing and running around town. I'm mainly looking for better sound with maybe a little extra performance. I may add and Edge unit later.

So my questions is:

Do I go with 4" or 5" ?

Catback or turbo back?

Is stainless worth the extra $$$ ?

Or, should I simply delete the cat and upgrade the muffler ?

Any advise on exhaust systems like Banks, BullyDog MBRP ?

Thanks in advance.

The stock 4" is fine unless your going big,big horsepower. Put a MBRP muffler, they sound great. If you dont want drone in the cab, leave the cat on.

I agree with blkt6 (apparently not only on exhaust) The 5" will sound deeper, but with the exception of lower EGTs you probably wont gain much over a 4".

XX22 I love my t.b. 5", I run a single stack. The guys at work love it also, they say it sounds MEAN!! Got it off ebay, except for the elbows. Have around $400 invested. I do have a stainless 6" tip for sale that goes on the 5".

On the stainless, depends if you deal with the salted roads in winter. I have aluminized.

What he said, don't waste your money on a complete exhaust, my 40" Nelson muffler cost me a whole $67.

dont worry about turbo back, 06 have a 4 inch down pipe stock and a aftermarket is the same pipe. i went with 4 inch mbrp with a test pipe and love the sound and gains from it. on mbrp website they have sound clips to help you out

I opted for the silverline duals and would never go duals again. they smoke mostly from one side and the stainless 304 muffler has a crack on the front inlet and rear exit pipes. I would just go single 5" or muffler and a tip if you stick with 4" but never the duals.

I noticed in a recent magazine ad that Diamond Eye is marketing a "muffler replacement" for third gen trucks, basically a muffler with a short pipe to deal with the angle change necessary to go from the stock offset muffler to a straight through muffler. Looks like a nice setup with hangers welded on and ready to bolt up in place of the stock muffler.

Thats where I am not... running a Donaldson 40".. I really like the sound, volume, and lack of drone.

I have less drone now w/out it that I did with only the cat and no muffler.
