Espar coolant heater

Who has an espar coolant heater? Do they work as well as they say, up to operating temp in less than an hour. How are they to install, the guy told me it takes them 10 hours to install. I thought this heater would be the cat's *** in the winter, save a lot of idle time. Just want an opion and/or advice. I would probably install myself.

I've installed 2 of them in friends trucks . One is a 96 and the othere is an 01. They took me about 6 hours each to install, but that was when they had special brackets to mount on the Dodge frame, now i think you have to mount them with a universal kit. Yes they work great, just keep the heater fan on low or the batteries will drain down . One friend has slept in the truck a few times when its -20c outside with just the heater on. You can install a remote or hook it up to a command start remote. Highly recommended.

Very nice to have, I installed mine last fall. With the third gens your doing your own custom fabbing for brackets and plumbing. Not a big deal if you can use a MIG welder and have basic fabrication skills. I installed mine under the airbox.

I wouldn't want a diesel without one.

I dont know about down there, but the dealer here said if I installed the kit myself, there would be no warranty until they inspected my work. Not a big deal as I don't trust anyone to work on my baby, just food for thought....

I priced one from cummins and it was $1295.00 + taxes. They did not say anything about having the work inspected for warrenty but I will ask the Question.
