Entertainment Systems
This is a little ways off for me, but I want to start thinking about it now. I have two kids on the way and know how valuable a DVD system can be for long trips. Do any of you have DVD players in your trucks? What kind of a system do you have? (flip down screen or headrest mounted screens) What kind of price did you pay for your systems. Please add pics of the system you have or those you have seen. Thanks.

Vizualogic head rest type. They replace your o.e. units with factory match upolstery. Have them in the GMC and the Dodge and have been great.

I have an in dash touchscreen Pioneer Head unit. I believe its a 6.5" screen. Not sure what they go for now, mine is about 2 yaers old.
If I had a bigger cab, I would prob. go with this unit and some headrest types

Hard to see in this picture, but I have a Kenwood KVT-815 with a 7" touchscreen DVD, Sirius, TV and iPod interface. Kids can see it great from the backseat. System with Rockford Amp, JL Audio 10" Sub and Focal speakers to replace the stock speakers, installed was about $4800 total.
My other truck has a Kenwood KVT-911 7" DVD, TV, KEG in dash with a SAVY 7" screen in each headrest. Eclipse Amp, JL Audio 10" Subs, Boston Coustic speakers was about $4500 installed.
Either are pricey, but definitely keeps the kids quiet on long road trips.

I have a soney dream system with the roof mount screen. I mounted it where the dome light was and had to fab a filler piece because the roof is not flat. Relocated the dome light to the rear. The player is in the lower center seat storage area. I got the unit for under $400.00. The kids love it. I looked at the head rest monitors and they were more than I wanted to spend.

Check out my gallery, I went multi-channel 7.5" dual monitors with additional input adapter. I went the multi function route, I'm able to play the radio up front, movie out back, movie in the rear, audio from movie up front or both over all 7 speakers, a movie on one side while on the other side they can play PS2, XBOX or plug in a portable DVD player. Three wireless headsets that allow multiple inputs. (ch 1, 2 or both) CD/DVD changer and misc items located under the passenger seat. We drove across the country during the summer of 04 via the southern route from WA state to CA, TX, LA, GA, VA, FL and returned via the southern route. Left the house for our 27 day adventure with a brand new truck with only 500 miles on it and got back with exactly 10,500. The entertainment system worked magic with 3 kids in back. Highly recommend it, solved all those dad are we there yet cries!!!! The kids never got tired of the DVD video collection of 200 plus, even when they wanted something new, Walmart was only an exit or two away.
