Engine Rebuild

Does anyone have an idea how much it would cost to rebuild the engine? I was told that I either spun a rod or main bearing. The mech. said that it would probably be cheaper to buy a good used engine. I priced one that had 31K miles on it at $5,500.

After building a motor for a guy, new block, head etc. I would find a good used low mileage motor and swap... It would save a ton of time. You get more for your money building a fresh motor but you could always part out your old motor if you swap and save some money.

It really depends on what actually happened, if you spun a rod bearing then you wount need a new block, only a crankshaft and a rod, but if you spun a main bearing then you will probaly need a block

IF you spun a rod, send your crank to Lunati. Have it stroked, indexed, and hard chromed. If its a main. Have new caps fitted, line bored and finish honed to MINIMUM spec's...
