Electric fan
I don't think there isn't an electric fan out there that pushes as much CFM as the OEM viscous. Light duty use you could probably get away with it. If you tow, electric fans may have a tough time keeping up in the summer months.
I have two electric fans on my 54' Merc street rod running Ford 302 in Miami Florida w/a/c. They keep the heavy old car cool. No room for conventional fan in the re-mod, but found one fan (when stopped in traffic) wasn't enough. FYI: most elec fans can either "pull" or "push" and can be radiator mounted.
I tried the Flex-a-Lite Model 350 dual puller fans on my 1996 3500. These fans drew 50 amps (
) but couldn't cool the engine when towing a heavy 5th wheel on hills or in Houston stop-and-go traffic. 50 amps x 12 volts = 600 watts = 0.8 BHP which is not enough power to move the air required to cool an engine that's working hard, especially in high ambient temperatures.

The stock fan pulls north of 10,000cfm of air. There's not an electric fan on the market that can support that. Maybe if you drove around unloaded all the time with stock power and never saw traffic with your AC turned off. Horton makes an electric fan clutch but it's $600. It will add more power power and help with the mileage though but the bang for buck ratio just isn't as good as other mods.
