EGT's too high with no box???
Is it possible to have EGT's that are too high on a stock truck. I tow 9000#'s at around 70mph. Can the EGT's get too high under this load while going up hills?

Anything is possible, however most likely NOT because of all of the computer controlled stuff. The engine will most likely defuel when it senses temps too high

That is incorrect. The ECM has no way of monitoring EGT's. There is no factory EGT sensor. The engineers designed/programmed the fueling curves with EGT to be at a maximum, safe temp under normal operating conditions.

Yes! I have been driving my truck up some grades North West of Phoenix and I can get the temps up over 1600 intermittently and steady 1400+. This is with an empty truck. I asked the service advisor about it when I had my milage flash done and they say it is normal. According to Doug, SPA guages are the fastest. It could be I am see temps that others don't see because of that. Other guages won't spike the way SPA guages do.

Cummins tests these motors harder than we could ever imagine. If your stock I wouldnt worry about it.
Ive also heard that the S.P.A.'s are the most acurate and fastest gauges out.
