egt temp?
I just hooked up my egt gauge and need to know what numbers to look for.
what should it be at idle and before I shut down?
cruising down the freeway unloaded and loaded.
what is max that i want to see?
now to answer your questions, yes i tried to search the forums but for 2 days i couldn't
get it to work!?
truck is 04.5 600 auto 4x4 with 3.73
all stock but high flow air filter and edge ez box.
tow? yes i tow, anything from 5k to my 32' 5th. wheel about 12k lbs.
thanks for your input, Jim

There is a Google search button at the bottom of the page that you can search DTR with, when the search function is turned off.
Note: Due to server limitations the normal search function is turned off during peak times.

Jim, Welcome aboard the site.
A) <300* Before you shut down is the rule of thumb around here...
B) Cruising down the freeway/unloaded at 75 I sit right at 550*
C) Pulling down the freeway/loaded at 75 I ride 800+ (6500# TT))
D) Never maintain anything over 1300*
I think I hit all your questions...
Tom

Well there is a little more to the answer. If your EGT is installed Post Turbo then the numbers are different than Pre Turbo.
Yes, never stay above 1300 Pre Turbo or "Danger Will Robinson, Danger" If yo get that high Post Turbo then forget about it, it's TOAST.
Shutdown at 300 or less is great for Post but you can go as high as 400 Pre-Turbo.
Normal cruzing is great around 400-800 for Post & Pre Turbo. Towing on hills will vary greatly between the two by as much as 500degrees. Pre-Turbo can be at 1150 and Post Turbo around 500.
I have both and track them both when getting on it
