It's a time -v- temp thing. 1250 sustained, anything over that and you start to weaken the top of the piston if it is for a long period.

I have heard of plenty common rail trucks getting up to 1400... My highest is 1200, but I don't have any type of programmer or module...yet.

ran 1550 last night for 9 runs at the track. Hit 1550 at about the 1000' mark and ran through the 1/4 with it.

I get scared if i run 1550 for over 1/4 mile. I have pegged 1600 before doing a 1/4 mile run with the juice on a back road. i was scared, but its good now.

i pull heavy up 7% grades in overdrive without a problem at 1400-1450 degrees often in the winter.

Basically, in the 1/4 mile dont be worried unless you are sitting at 1600 degrees through the whole thing. if you are pulling heavy then keep it below 1450

The 600 series seems to take higher egts better than the pre 600s. I can't tell you why but they just seem to and they operate at higher temps from what I've seen on here.

the 600's and 610's run higher egts due to the 3rd injection event that is alittle late to keep the catalytic converter lit off for emmisions.
