EGT & box question

Stupid question probably, but here it is.

I know that you shouldn't run a box w/o gauges. My question is this:

I know the EGTs will get high if you are on it, but if you had your rig programmed and just drove normally, i.e., not getting into it all the time, would the EGTs be low enough to just keep it programmed?

Sorry if this is confusing...let me know if you do not understand. Thanks.

Nick

You should be fine if you keep your foot light(i could be wrong correct me if i am), but as we all know, the temptation is there. You might have more willpower than me.lol

I ran my truck with the EZ box on level 4 for a year before I got any guages. I even towed on level 4 with no problems. SO's tend to run cooler though....

I run level 4, and i put my foot in it quite frequently and i have never had to "LAY OFF" due to high temps. If you put a mild box on, and dont go crtazy with your right foot you should be fine

Guages are a good investment probably the best for longevity of your truck. If you plan to never get guages for whatever your reason may be get a box like the xzt from Quad that is 65hp unadjustable to keep you from heating up your truck.

I am definitely getting gauges...just I cannot get them right now. All purchases have to be approved by the wife (yes, I know I'm whipped). I can hide the fact that the truck is programmed from her (hopefully she will not notice the power difference :-) )

I cannot hide an A-pillar full of gauges from her though. She said I could have the gauges, but I just have to wait a bit.

I'm getting a power pup used at a good price...just cannot pass it up.
