Edge Juice Clutch Slip??
Edge Juice Clutch Slip??
I have an 05 610 with the nv5600 and 3.73 gears. I have the edge juice with attitude and I recently let a friend of mine drive the truck and he turned the chip up to level 5 and drove around like that for about 2 hours and now the clutch slips a little worse. on the stock level in slips anout 5% in 6th adn on level theree in 5th it slips about 7% I usually run on the stock setting with occasionaly the upper levels but not very often. Is this something I should be concerned about or not. Also I was looking through my records and I guess he over reved it to 3913. I was not very happy but is that really hard on it or can you get by with that a couple of times. Well needless to say that he wll not ever drive my truck again.
Don't know what to tell you on the high revs, but on the tranny slippage, I wouldn't trust the Edge to be accurate. I have been pretty easy on my stock 48RE and rarely run above level 3. Even so, I will regularly have slippage of 3-7% on my Attitude monitor. I was really concerned about this at first, but as time has passed, I figured out that the Edge is totally accurate on this.
I have only slipped my tranny once, for a split second. Maybe the Juice/Attitude is picking up the slippage during shifts, when it thinks my tranny is locked up. Anyhow, using my seat-of-the-pants monitor, my transmission is holding together pretty well behind my juiced CTD.

Clutch Slippage
I have the xzillaraider race and my clutch slips in both 5th and 6th when I have it set to the 100hp level and push the pedel to the floor. I'm already considering upgrading my clutch. I thought the stock clutch would have held better but I"m not surprise when I feel the torque this engine puts out on that setting. I still haven't tried the 130hp setting yet. I'm looking at the South Bend clutches.
No I will never let anybody drive my truck anymore. It only takes me once for somebody to burn me. It would be a different story if no chip and under warranty but it's different with chip and no warranty. I would guarantee he doesn't have the money to buy me a new clutch. Thanks for all the information.
I think the Juice/Attitude transmission slip indicator picks up slippage when the converter is locking and unlocking. I have seen upto 9% slippage recorded on my Attitude?
So far the stock transmission seems to be doing fine, but I only have 9,000 Miles on the truck.
As for the high RPMs? I'm not sure. Sounds like your friend downshifted at too high a speed or into too low a gear to get the RPMs that high.

Hey all,
New to the forum - this is my first post. I have been doing some searches so I don't ask any questions that have been hashed over a million times and came across this thread. I am new to diesels. My current '04 325/600 is my first and I have had it 5 weeks now. (Just got my Edge Juice w/ attitude by UPS yesterday.) However, I am not new to engines. The answer to the RPM question is this:
High RPMs will either break parts or not. It will not cause adverse wear that will cause a problem over time. Too many RPMs = broken or not broken. Yours isn't broken, so it survived the RPMs. Now it is possoble that it may have stressed some parts that will not fail at normal RPMs but might fail if asked to go beyond specs again. In other words, i think your truck is fine. However, i would not allow it to happen again, as the results may not be the same. Just my two cents, but I think it is pretty accurate. Again, I am new to diesels but have been building and racing engines for 18yrs.

Just too let you know about the revs thing....Cummins has the 03 and up Common rails limited too 4000 rpm for a reason....the fact that the redline on the tach is at 3200 is dodge being cautious.
clutch slipping
I just read your threadand know how you feel. You have the same setup I have with the same problem. Yes you will have to change the stock clutch or it will keep slipping, especially in 6th gear. I put a new LUK cerametallic clutch in mineWOW what a difference it made in all gears, I bought my clutch thru DIAL-A-CLUTCH.com very reasonably priced. GOOD LUCK
