My father has an 04.5 CTD and I am buying him an Edge EZ for it. He mainly wants it for the 1st level gains for fuel mileage. He is one of those guys who never goes WOT unless he is merging into fast moving traffic and its necessary. Also the only towing we do is limited to 6k or less with ATV's on our trailer...and possibly my truck if I were to break at a sled pull and need to get it home (we could turn it off then)

He has expressed that he doesn't want gauges tho(I've tried repeatedly to tell him they are only there to help the truck stay safe), so I was wondering if the EZ would raise EGT's and or trans temps enough to require gauges to be installed.

 

I think that you would be ok I imagine it is comparable to the quad zxt box. I am sure other's with the ez will chime in. But I don't think with his driving habits hell blow her up ..

I agree if he dosen't hot rod you will be fine. One of my buddies has the ez on his 06 and he hauls cows and he has been ok so i think that you will be fine

 

When he's pulling a load just have him keep the switch on 1 or 2.

 

He will be fine, even on 3...... if he dosent lay into it for a long time.

I have the same stubbern father problems..... I put 275rv's, comp box, EZ, Holley Blue pump, and Southbend Con, in my dads, and he still wont buy any guages. He pulls a D4 dozer (32,000lbs ttl) with his, on the floor and still hasnt blown it up yet. It took a new new VP44 for him to realize he needed a pusher pump. And it will take a new motor for him to get a EGT gauge.

on a 0-80 run with an EZ alone on a stock turbo i hit 1500* on the pyro.
