What do you want to do drag racer? Sled puller or just hot rod? The 2001 is out of the question for sled puller since it's 2wd. If you drag race not a bad idea just need some big slicks. Personally I would go with the newer truck. You can get alot more hp out of a CR then a vp motor.

Bomb the 07, the VP44 in that 01 will last longer with less abuse
