Dual Or Single - Exhaust?

im debating wether to keep my stock location 4" straight pipe or get duals. If i got duals they would exit at the end of each side of the bumper, kinda like the stock location moved back about 4 inches, and on both sides. I would stick to 4" piping and leave it straight piped. they would have nice 5 or 6" tips on the ends.

what do you guys think? i drive 80 miles a day so if duals would make it any louder on the highway im not sure i want that.

I don't think it would make it any louder being that its straight piped already. As for running duals moving it back 4 inches will require some bending, do you have a pipe bender to fit 4 inch pipes? If you do make a set for me, I wouldn't mind running duals out the back...

RickD runs the MBRP Cool Duals and they do look sweet. I'd have them if I wasn't such a tightwad! If you get them, get an aeroturbine too as he said the drone while towing on the highway was unbearable......

I think duals on a diesel is %&%&$, unless they are stacks. But it would be cool to somke out people on both sides of you. I have a single str8 4" pipe and I have no drone, but it is loud when you get into it.

I love the cool duals. i wanted Stacks but was concerened about noise, especially since children are in our imediate future and will be in the back seat... Other than that I have the cat back system. It gives me a low growl, that gets aggressive (not too loud though) I did have it straight piped and loved it, however was worried about noise when towing the big trailer as we tow in the mountains and it would get old very fast. I do wish it was a bit louder than it is now and I do wish it was stacks instead of out the back

I think one big stack out the hood looks best.

Then dual stacks

Then a big single.

I can't see why (other than being able to smoke out people on both sides) you would put duals on. It's an inline 6 engine, not a V-8.

If it was a V-8, I would say duals.

Mostly for looks, some like the look. Like me I would love stacks, and even when you think about the duramax, or powerstroke, both V-8 engines, but they still go through one turbo, so even on them duals wouldn't make sence. Kinda like the guy that lowers a dually and puts on 24 in rims, to me that would make no sence (especially the guy that lowers a 4x4 ) but it's what people like. I like the duals cause now instead of heavy soot on one quarter pannel, I have light soot on both (easier to clean) I'm a happy camper. Plus up in the rust state Rhode Island, if one side rots out, I just crimp it shut and use the other side

StrokeThisCTD,

We have the MBRP duals that you are looking for, they exit just like the pic that was posted and keep your cat in place, they start in the mid 500.00's for aluminized and are available in 409 and 304 stainless steel too! Call us if you have any questions etc.
If the cat is left in place you won't have any drone at all, but for most of the hard core diesel guys like us it's tooooo quiet that way!

LMFAO.

You have some good points. I think a lot of guys on this board feel like there are so many mods you can do to these trucks, to do a mod just for looks is a waste.

But, to each their own

i dont want them how they are in the pic. i want them angled back more. kinda a wierd way to say it but i want it like /\ out, just angled a little bit more.

i can also get this done at an exhaust shop for about 150 dollars. i dont have a cat, and dont want a muffler so a full exhaust isnt what i need

Duals just balance the rear out. Go with the duals. Same reason why dual stacks look better than a single. It just balances out better. I'd have stacks if it wasn't for my better half. So, 2nd best was the MBRP SS duals.

StrokeThisCTD,

Been there done that, you won't like it if you ever tow. The soot will collect on your truck like you can't imagine. The angle you are asking for will draw the exhaust into the vaccum between the truck and trailer.

Be sure whatever exhaust shop you are dealing with has mandrel bending capability for 4 inch tube, if they don't and use 3 inch (see it done and what a problem it was for the guy he had a Ford) you will actullay be making a restriction in the system.
