single or dual

my clutch is toasted, it was fine before the 10 plate so keeping in mind i plan on a bigger single delivery valves and 370's but that will be way down the line. I was thinking either the fe or doing the 3600 12 button dual disk. Besides the input shaft will any thing have to be changed on the tranny (such as master or slave) what have your dual disk setups ended up costing considering I will be putting it in clutch and shaft. lastly considering im only at about 330 hp (plate centered) are there any detremental effects to having way to much clutch. I dont think ill be sled pulling, but hard street use and i pull a large boat which is why im shying away from the fe.

It all depends. If you never plan to sled pull, you might be fine with the single. The dual disc will make it impossible to shift fast on the street, but you will never have to question if it will hold or not. If you plan on doing any 3rd gear launches, then buy the dual disc. A single will only handle that a few times. The dual disc just cannot be shifted very fast though.

I have the 3850 /12 Button from SBC and it drives just like any SBC single disk with the exception that it does shift slower. However I've had mine in for over a year and I wouldn't go back to a single disk for anything!

There is no question that this clutch will hold anything you can through at it, and 3rd gear launches really your friends!

Unless you plan on running twin turbos I would hold off on the delivery valves, because you will have a hard enough time burning all the fuel from the plate & 370's.

As far as a clutch goes if you know you will never do any sled pulling then you would be better of with a 13" OFE or FE. Best thing to do is talk with Peter @ SBC, and be honest with him about what you will be doing with the truck. He will not try and sell you more clutch than you need.

yeah im pretty sure i wont be pulling, but i heard the fe isn't good for pulling trailers and a dd was actually better for that set up right, i may be drag racing some and a plan on a bigger charger and injectors. cousin billy took me for a ride in his truck and his fe was toasted and i want to push a biigger charger than his 40, plus 3rd gear launches on the street sound fun and might teach the ricers a thing or two. Also what charger are you running now mark? another adkins charger? and any idea what your truck is putting down? also how is it to drive that truck on the street? gonna be up by louisville anytime?

You want a dual disc if you are even thinking of 3rd gear launches. Sounds like you have made your decisison I drove a dual disced truck, and the only thing i noticed was that bothered me at all was the slower shifting nature of it. Clutch pressure didnt bother me, and engagement wasnt really bad at all.

A HTB2 Killer B2 that I want to convert into a Sled Puller 66

Still WAY to much fuel for my air!

In another couple of years I may give up and just throw twins on it and quit pulling.

My truck is still VERY driveable it has to get me to work and back EVERYDAY. Nope probably won't be up by L'ville anytime soon. Sorry.

Just ask Eric (Cumminsdriver365) he wanted to race till my charger spooled in 3rd....he heard it spooling then decided he was done! ......he knows another couple of seconds and I would have had him!

Yeah, yeah. You are the lucky one my friend. If your truck wont pull harder than mine with what you have done to it, then you better be getting rid of it. Heck; I have stock injectors, delivery valves, only a 3k GSk, and the tiny 160 pump. Besides. Ill race you with 10k lbs behind anyday

HP I couldn't tell you. I'd guesstimate around 450-470HP with this charger, but I haven't dynoed it yet. Charger is a HTB2 Killer B2 64mm Comp wheel 14cm Wg'd exhaust. I have JR Adkins Laser Cut DV's, a #100 plate curtosey of Northslope , PDR 370 injectors, 4k GSK, 17* timing, Scotty II air filter, straight 4" exhaust to stacks, and a SBC 3850 DD.

I have entirely TOO MUCH fuel for the charger I'm running. But whenever you get past a #10 plate & 370's in a 215HP pump you are running too much fuel for a single charger anyways!

I have towed a few times without the DV's, and even with them I would still be able to tow just have to move the plate back. MPG is 16-17 right now with 3.55 gears/5spd/315 tires. Anything else you want to know feel free to ask.

Popped the head gasket early this year, pulled the head and had made a midnight run to Indiana to let JR o-ring. Put a new set of Cummins head bolts in because studs wasn't in the budget at the time.....shoot a new HG & O-ringing wasn't in the budget "at the time"

Never seen over 42 PSI with this current setup.
