Downsides to SMARTY smoke????
Disadvantages of smoke, besides losing the stealth acceleration factor? Lots of smoke on a regular basis = lots of diesel evaporating from my tank on a regular basis. The heavy right foot KILLS the mpg's.
I've been thinking about this too lately. I thought I was having the beginning of injector problems,= white smoke on start-up, so I took the truck to the dealer to check the balance rates on the injectors. The rates for all the injectors were in the 90's. The tech mentioned that I don't work the truck very hard, which I don't. I guess he saw some type of engine load data in the ecm. I think my injectors are just getting sooted/carboned from my TST or probably more from the aggressive low boost fueling of the Smarty. I think that I don't work the truck hard enough to keep them clean.
