Does a boost fooler actually increase boost?

Only 25psi? I can get 28-29 with my truck, and its bone stock, aside from gauges, a straight pipe and a removed silencer ring.

Ok guys let me give you an update. This makes no sense to me. Two days ago I was playing with my smarty on nine. 25 pounds of boost with or without wastegate. Today I decided to stack it with my xzt box so I backed the smarty down. Boost was 30's with some smoke. Ok a lot of smoke. Went for a ride over to my buddies and the brake/abs light came on with no codes. Got nervous and took off the xzt box as this thing throws some weird codes and part of the reason for getting the smarty. Put the smarty on 6 and shut the waste gate off for the heck of it. Instant almost 40 pounds of boost. What the heck was that? I will never hook the xzt up to it again if it can boost on it's own. I may someday stack but not with this box. Any ideas what happened there?

I don't think so, or atleast I got away with it for 50,000 miles before upgrading to twins and then I put the studs in.

Yes, if you turned the Smarty all the way up and just thrashed things the turbo is going to take a beating.

These turbos are pretty tough and just a little restraint will keep things under control. I have been running over a year frequently hitting 40-45 psi and the boost reference line blocked. As long as you understand how you can destroy the turbo and drive to avoid it yopu will most likely not have any issues.

The CAN BUS communications protocols on the 06+ trucks can be a little finicky at times. Sometimes just resetting and reloading the ECU with the tune can change the way things work. Did you by chance have the XZT hooked up but off when you tried it originally?

The xzt box wasn't hooked up. I only put that on there to see what it did do with the boost. Short blasts with the xzt and the truck would hit 1400 way too quick for my liking. At 1400 I am shutting down. Too scary for me. Many guys say they go higher but I don't really feel the need. Blown up enough sleds don't need to do my truck too.

Did u ever figure this out?

I'm kinda in the same boat.. I can be on sw 3 or 7 and will only hit 30-32 psi... I'm thinking it's the fuel pump draining the cp3! Unless it's something else???

If you don't have a boost fooler or control the WG thats all it will make for boost.

Well I went and played with it a lik today and I guess mine (2006) like the odd numbers better. I was only makin 32psi on sw5 and then I put it on sw4 today and I hit 40 pretty easy.

Now are you suppose to get lower egts with added timing? Bc mine looked lower with stock timing
