do I worry about this right now?
I talked to a few diesel performance places and they told me that the stock lift pumps on 04.5 2500s burn out all fo the time, my truck of course is an 04.5 with only 68,000 miles on it and I never had any problems with it, all I do is tow my toy hauler with it to mx races. the diesel performance places have me all nervous about the lift pump, is it really that big of an issue. my truck is stock I just installed a Bully dog power pup the other day on towing setting, and am getting ready to put a turbo back exaust and AFE cold air on it. any imput to put my mind at ease will greatly be apprieciated.I just don`t want to get stranded in the middle if no where, plus my wife is going to kill me if I have to spend any more money right now. thanks.
IMO with the bullydog you will need more fuel, the stock pump is barely enough for the stock truck. If it were me I would at least have a spare stocker on hand and the tools to change it on the road. There are plenty of after market pumps out there that provide sufficient fuel for your setup, find one in your price range and have it on hand with the tools to change it out. With the stock pumps you never know how long they are going to last and yours is more prone to failue being on the filter housing vs in tank.
