codes, anything to worry about

Well it was bound to happen I got codes today. Is there anything I should do with these codes? is there anything I should worry about? I know to make the P0500 disappear I need to disconnect the battery. Check my sig I haven't done anything yet, comp isn't hooked up yet, all stock.

P0216 Fuel Injection Pump Timing Failure
P0234 Turbo Boost Limit Exceeded
P0500 No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal
P1693 DTC Detected In ECM Or PCM

I did a search and it explains what they are but not what to do.
thanks for any help !!

fuel pressure is 16 @ idle, I thought P0216 was the death code. Changed fuel pump under warrenty last sept. No prob with truck no shutter or anything.

hmmm,

You mean they replaced your VP under warranty?? How long ago? maybe they didn't reset the codes? If they just replaced a dead lift pump under warranty I would suspect the VP is biting the dust. I have heard of bad lps causing the code.

How much warranty do you have left??

I keep getting the overboost code myself, I'm pretty sure my waste gate is stuck. I replaced the MAP sensor and it is no different.

The No vehicle speed sensor thing I don't know much about sorry. Probably a wheel speed sensor thing I guess.

Have you had any symptoms? It is possible that codes can be set as a fluke, one time occurance. I am sure you have read about others having VP problems and the issues they had.

I don't think I have any symptoms, only thing I've noticed is once and awhile at idle the engine sounds like its fighting to stay running for just a second, this happens for about 1min but not all the time. Not sure if this is a symptom.

Well it happened this morning the fuel pressure dropped to 5psi @ idle so hopefully I can get an appointment tomorrow if the diesel tech is in @ the dealership so it looks like both lift pump and VP will have to be changed ......my rig will never be the same

Don't worry, maybe it will be better. At least you have the warrenty to fall back on.

Make sure when you go for warranty that you get the lift pump and the VP44 replaces. Fight, claw, scratch, whatever you have to do to get the dealer to do this, otherwise they'll probably try to tell you that it's just the VP44 and if they don't fix a potentially bad lift pump, the next VP you replace will be out of warranty, out of your pocket.
Just a thought.

hey Tony fill in your sig so we know what rig you have. I think from '01 and up if you turn the key to "on" and back 3 times on the odometer the codes will display. Both PCM & ECM codes.
To decode them DTR has it in there tech section:
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...n&onlynewfaq=1 and I think so does Genosgarage.com

Well I went in last fri and yup the VP44 has to be changed but on the way there my fuel pressuse dropped to 5psi he saw my guage shut it off and started it again and hooked up his guage and it read 16 and so did mine, we waited awhile and it didn't drop so there not changing the LP which in my option is not working good if it dropped. Well I'll see what the say today waiting on an appointment.
