Do I really need the PG7?
Do I really need the PG7?
Do I really need the AFE pro guard 7 filter with the pre wrap or can I get by with just the stage 2 intake??
I will be purchasing soon and can't decide.

You really don't need it, but it does filter much more than the standard AFE filter. I would at least use a pre-filter on either one. It just keeps bigger objects from getting to the filter material. Makes it much easier to clean and keeps most of the water, mud, snow, etc. from get to the actual filter material and soaking in. I have both and a pre-filter. I use the standard filter for racing and the PG 7 with pre-filter for normal driving. I can tell a little difference in air flow between the two with my SPS66.
My oil samples come back with silicon levels of 4-5ppm with the PG7.
I've heard reports of 12+ppm silicon with other filters.
Buy once and do it right. Get the PG7 and run the pre-filter when it's raining and/or snowing and running a big turbo. If you have a stock turbo, then run the pre-filter all the time. You won't notice a difference.
