there are different versions for the 2nd gen vs the 3rd gen Cr's. there are several different software versions based upon mods, such as aftermarket turbos or injectors, manual or automatics. marco has really worked his butt off to make several flavors for us to dial in more towards what we run.

From the smarty site!

We offer the most comprehensive software selection for your trucks needs. We offer specialized softwares ranging anywhere from the stock truck to the heavily modified ones.

We offer dedicated softwares for :
A) Engines with stock injectors and stock turbo
B) Engines with stock injectors and aftermarket turbo*
C) Engines with aftermarket injectors** and stock turbo
D) Engines with aftermarket injectors** and turbo*

In addition to the above, each software is also available in four different levels of reduced torque management.

1) Stock torque management.
2) Mild torque increase.
3) Moderate torque increase.°
4) The "wild thing".....°° ( This SW is available in the section for not stock engines)
° A stock automatic transmission can handle this version only with a "conservative" driving style.
°° Aftermarket transmission required!!!

Not to Hi-jack your thread, I think this kind of ties into your topic.

Can some please explain what "Torque management" is. I have been reading this board for a couple months now and still don't get it.

Thanks.

Torque MGT = Torque REDUCTION at low and mid RPM

It's kinda backwards; the Mild TM = less INCREASE in torque, Moderate TM = even less "reduction" and Wild = the least reduction in Torque.

(to me it's sorta a double negative LOL but I'm dyslexic)

To me Severe/Wild Torque "Management" would = the LEAST torque since "managing" it is implying reducing the torque since Torque Management is the reduction of torque to protect our driveline.

This is all because I know nothing officially about TM anyway.

s-04a was the original programmer for the 03-05 trucks, and the s-06a was released for the 06 trucks.

Tq Management is a safety built into the stock software, and protects the driveline (mainly the auto tranny), Mild, Moderate, and Wild softwares reduce the tq management and increase bottom end fueling and throttle response with wild meaning almost no tq management and the best throttle response.

Gotcha. They say the s-06a works with 2003-2007 trucks. I guess it supercedes the s-04a. I'd rather get that one if I decide to trade up sometime.

Here's how you see what tq mgmt is:

Do two straight line 0-60mph runs (dont worry about timing it, just seat of pants feel)

1st run: From a stop floor it to the mat....you'll notice the truck hesitates / pauses and then goes (this is the computer trying to protect the trans...e.g. tq mgmt)
2nd run: From a stop Roll into the throttle...you'll actually be faster as the truck isnt defueling / pausng / ...

Tq Mgmt mostly affects the low to mid range power at higher throttle %'s.

THe smarty minimizes the computer's tq mgmt to allow more fuel / power at the low end / mid range....it's really nice even on the moderate setting....

Stock tq mgmt = Not very fun
Moderate = less computer mgmt
Mild = even less computer mgmt
Wild = minimal computer mgmt (and stock trans life)

How do these TM settings effect a 6spd.

Do you start to lose the clutch on Mild or will it hold on Wild??

thanks for the input.

Depends on who you ask. LOL Most will say that the TQ management programs will not affect 6 speed trucks and that tq management is only for autos. However, most stick truck owners will tell you it does! I found the fueling to be a lot better on the bottom end with the Smarty than with any of the other tuners I had ran until that time. I had pushed 645 HP thru my south bend FE clutch for quite a while till the Smarty came along. About a week afetr running the smarty and the poor clutch was hurtin. LOL

The tst does not do tq management. Only downloaders do it at this time.
