Dealer says"no high idle for my 04.5" Why???

Took my 04.5 in today to have the weather strip changed and asked the service adv. to try again and find the fast idle info. I told him I was having problems with AC when idling.
Left and went to waiting room, then went back and told service adv. he should be able to find the info. by calling STAR. By now the serv. mgr. was on the computer looking for info. He told me no re-flash for my vin. that would enable the fast idle. We went back and forth with the end results being I don't my fast idle enabled.
How can I get them to under stand?

Because enabling the high idle option is not actually a flash. The option is already there, the dealer simply has to enable it with the scantool. You could do a search and come up with LOTS of information about this topic. I went to the dealer for the fuel mileage flash and with some persuasion, The tech looked for it and enabled it for me. Its there, I promise, you just have to find right person to talk to.

I did a search yeaterday before going to the dealer today and that is why I went the "problem route" rather than just asking to turn it on, again.

The dealer is so stuck on "it is not for your truck, vin." , that he is not really concerned about trying to really help.
Today I asked "have you ever done one of these before, he said yes, but I'm not so sure.

I am calling another dealer Monday.

Question

My boss took his '04.5 in about 3 weeks ago and the tech (same exact tech that turned on the high idle in my '05) couldn't find it in his truck. Now his is a 6 spd and mines an auto.... maybe that has something to do with it I dunno, he did have the latest reflash put in, basically the same that came stock in mine, but the tech still couldn't find it... tranny diff's or???

HTH,

This option is not available on ANY manual transmission truck. Only works on the autos.

Can't do it on a six speed, only the automatic equipped trucks have this option. DRB Menu....select engine, enter misc., choose idle enable....yes, yes, select #1...It's enabled!! Tech receives tip/12 pack and you're on your way!!

I think that would be my idea too. Some dealers are just more interested in helping the customers. Good Luck.

My 04.5 is a 6 speed and has the High Idle. I have never had it back to the dealer for a reflash, still on the original factory flash.

I have seen the high idle go into action during our cold Indiana winters.
It may not be cold enough for it to kick on in warmer climates.

As I recall it takes 30 degree weather for my truck to kick into high idle on its own.

PourinDiesel that is a different option, this high idle allows the user to raise his idle on the engine by using his cruise buttons to any rpms he wants and can release it by touching the brakes or hitting cruise off button.
