Dealer found EdgeEZ.....
Dealer found EdgeEZ.....
My dealer has yet to discover mine, but the service manager says he can find it by looking at boost pressure history.
Is this true?
I thought that the boost fooling meant that it did not tell the ECM the true readings???
Is my service manager trying to get me to fess up? Or is this true?
If they do find it...... will they make an official report of this to Chrysler, so that the warranty will be void at all dealers?
Or will they just make a note in their personal records?

Your ez box fools the computer to thinking its doing what its supposed to when actually you are getting more psi, they wont be able to see squat so dont worry about that, I thin he is just trying to get you to fess up however it is my oppinion that if you install a box you must be willing to be your own warrenty station

Don't know but why don't you ask them
Alot of the dealers sell some these addons.
Somtimes it's better to be upfront with them so that they can properly diagnose any proplems that you may have. Those of us with the Banks Six Gun cannot remove our box so there is NO hideing from the dealers.
My dealer just notes it if there is any problem & hopefully still make an attempt to fix the problem

He (service manager) told me that he approved of the air filter and exhaust, but that a fueling box would stop them from doing a drive train warranty job.
It is going in for the rear brakes in a couple of days, so I will be sure to remove the new found power.....
I just want the tranny to hold until I can afford (aprx. 6-10 months) an ATS torque converter and valve body.

FYI - if something is found, it goes in their computer, meaning all of their computers. Any time your vehicle is pulled up this will be flagged in the service history.

Thanks for the replies
I am under the impression that if you intercept, alter or stop a communication within the computer system on your truck, there is a way to see this change. It used to be that Dodge did not have this ability to dig deeper into the ECM on the trucks. Then can now and from what I have learned, the most recent ECM is all DC programming, not Cummins. Or at least its a DC program in there.
A lot of this depends on your dealer. If I was standing there listening to them say how they 'caught' someone, I'd take that as a warning and go somewhere else. I would also let the new dealer know what I have done because trying to hide it makes them more suspect of your intentions then being up front.
I always say...You Wants to Play Be prepared to Pay.
I am not telling anyone what to do or giving a morals lecture, I am telling what has worked for me.
There is definately two kinds of dealers out there. Choose carefully.

My understanding and experience is that when you go to any dealer for any kind of work, the truck's service history is updated in the DC database. They will log all the work and reasons for any warranty denials in there (the database) the same way as you see the info on your receipt when you get your truck back.
Any time you go to a dealer, any dealer, they pull your truck up and can see everything that has taken place at any other dealer.

I called my dealer a couple of weeks ago to talk about engine mods and warranty. There happened to be a DC rep in the shop and I got to talk with him for a few minutes. He was a pretty cool to talk to, but he did say they have ways of dectecting a fueling box on the truck. He said it all changed with the 2003 and up trucks. He said the boxes will leave an electronic trail and its just a matter of knowing what to look for. As far as the warranty is concerned he said mods won't automaticly void it, but if you put something on it and that particular item causes damage don't expect them to help foot the bill.
I almost forgot the DC reps opinion on the warranty was the opposite of my dealers. The dealer said ANY engine mod will automaticly void the warranty. The rep said only if the mod caused the damage.

Take your VIN to a dealer (any dealer anywhere). Ask them to pull the maintenance history. Your VIN goes into the PC looking terminal thingy on their desk, and TADAAAA - your truck's entire history right there.
When you take your vehicle into a dealer for work, they do their little questions and answers deal and type all that in. When you get done, everything that they did and why, or why not, has been input into their system.
One dealer flags your VIN (for one reason or another) in their system and you are done.

This is what a Cummins tech told me. He also said if they do not have the Program for the ECM that is on the trucks made in 04, they cannot even read the ECM.
So I asked him where they would get the program and his answer was DC.
If this is not true then perhaps you can enlighten us since you are skeptical of what I put here.
People have told me wrong things before, it won't be the first time.
Theres other threads I followed here and on TDR that correlate what the tech told me.
I can call Ken Scobel at Cummins direct and verify it if you like.
