Custom built input shaft
Custom built input shaft
Ok i have about a billzion machine shops in my area and my thouhts are to have an input shaft built out of a piece of 41/40 billet steel. My question would have to be:
where can i get an input template? besides my stock input
is there a better steel?
i think it would be cheaper since the blank steel is about $40.00, what do you think?
any problems that you see with this being done?

I saw there website but they have no price. Anyone know how much the "fat nasty" costs?
On another note i haven't heard of an input shaft breaking on a 3 rd gen with the kinda of power i'm making, do i really need it? I have also heard the flex plate would break before the input.

the flexplate will break before the shafts will, so its best to invest in one of the too, billet or laminated, but i went with billet to be 100% safe. and i would atleast get a billet input, especially if ur goin to be launchin in 4wd. there's been truck that are barley over stock that have broke shafts before, so its good insurance. If, i were u, i would watch it with the 4wd launches until u get shafts, cause thats just riding on luck. there aint no way i would have launched mine in 4wd at bristol, if i didnt have shafts.. id be too afraid of snapping one, and believe me, if u break one while boostin up, u will know it, it sounds like the whole motor has fell out!!! a buddy of mine did it in his dmax lastyear, and it was crazy!!!
