Custom Built Choppers

Always been a big chopper fan and dig all the chopper shows on the Discovery channel now days. But untill now I thought the price of a custom built chopper was way out of my league. Went searching on eBay today to see what they go for and found this completely sick custom for 34,499 buy it now price. I think it may be time to suck a little equity out of the house, just don't know how the ol' lady will react though....

Check out this bad boy... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Anyone on here ride American steel, or have custom of their own?

I ride them and build them.......most are over priced paint jobs and too much chrome and polish

I have been building bikes for 40 years and prefer simple clean lines of a good Black paint job with maybe some simple Flames

Big engines are the way to go a 113 ci is minimum size engine that I like and I have started using the 127 ci motors on builds now

The choppers are a show statements and not very ridable on long distance runs....the bikes I build are based on ride-ability and easy maintenance paying $30000.00-60000.00 for a motorcycle is rape as far as I'm concerned most of my builds cost less then $20000.00

You'd have to be one tough bird to ride that thing very far (hard tail)... Not for me, I would want big squishy seat with shocks. Looks neat though that's for sure.

I don't ride but I do like some of the bikes they build. The one OCC built, even though I can't stand the arrogant old man, to memorialize the 9/11 firefighters was incredible though.

Man, most under 20k you say? Would you happen to have a website pappyman? I'm more less with you on the cleaner look, but I do like some flame jobs, that's what attracted to the above bike.

I never noticed that the bike was a ridged, not to sure if my back could stand up to that after a 2k mile ride...

What do they mean by 99% complete? Not knocking the bike one bit, by check it out real good. One off bikes are cool but there just that, one off. everything is hand made or custom. breakdowns are tuff for parts at times. That thing would be a kick, but yer azz aint gonna feel to good after 100 miles or so. There are a lot of poor quality aftermarket parts around, again not to insult it, but 30k is a lot of money for a limited use scoot. You could pick up a nice HD or Indian for half that that would be a great rider, then you`ll have some left to personalize it to your need and likes.

Pappyman, you make 'em in the old school style? If so, you'll have another interested party here.

I don't care much for the newfangled styles. Too radical for my tastes.

The old vintage choppers are the best. I guess I'm young and cheap, but what's the point of spending that much money on a bike? The whole point of choppers is CHEAP, the way I see it.

I just need to axe my old man and steal his '47 Knucklehead. Not the fastest with only 12 HP (as the manual says...), but it'll go as fast as you got the cajones and it's a sexy looking ride.

What does one of these new 127 CI motors do? Rice-rocket speed isn't very practical unless you got rice-rocket suspension and steering and dress like a rice-rocket driver, which most hog drivers don't want to do. Wiping out on one of those things wearing a wife beater and blue jeans while going 140 MPH because some custom fabbed part screws up won't be good. I imagine that one old computer game where do the wheelie on the freeway and the front wheel falls off- not pretty. I guess it can give the Top Fuel Hell's Angels a ride for their money...

I just don't see how practical such a ride is. Get's the chicks, but even then whats the point when there's no back seat?

The bike on Ebay is not a rigid bike. It is a soft tail. Looks nice I would take it. The only thing I am not sure of is who makes the El Bruto engine and the make of the six speed tranny..

Pappy, is that $20k after the bike is provided? If so, you're in the ball park with those other guys.
