Installed my smarty jr a couple of days ago and it surges pretty good with cruise on. I tried a couple different settings and no real change. Is there a fix for this or anything I should be checking. Truck is 2003 auto, stock w/ 96k. current setting on smarty is sw1, tm2, tq4, pod 99.

I've got an 06 and a Smarty Jr. installed, and I never had an issue with surging when the cruise is on.

I'm close by in W. Kennewick if you ever want to try running your truck with another Smarty.

Let me know.

 

Turning down the torque management to 1 or 2 should help with the cruise control sensitivity.

Yeah, back of the TQ settings. That will make the throttle overly sensitive and eat tires.

The TQ setting in increasing order, according to the manual is:
1 = stock
4 = light
3 = soft
2 = mild.
Try TQ1.

 

Thanks for the info. I did a little testing today and got rid of the surge. On the setting I had the smarty jr on tq 4 was to much lowering it to 1 or 2 got rid of the surge. If I left tq on 4 and went to sw2 the surge went away ? Do you think the added fueling on sw2 got rid of the surging ? Truck felt really good on this setting. I really liked the throttle response. Ended up leaving the smarty on sw1 , tm2, tq2.

Try SW2 TM2 TQ4. That's my setting. If you don't like you can always go back.
Note: TQ2 is higher then TQ4.

 

With 5.13 V21 set on SW3, TM4, TQ2 I get the surge,but not constantly
