crazy larry vs tst..dyno speaks

well strapped the truck down today and although i feel the motor will get more hp with more mileage this is what i found...the crazy larry with a va 3.1 only put out417 and 761 w/va on the low settting, swithced to va high and went 432 and 768.egts only went to 650 post turbo....next i took out the pup and ran the tst on 7-7 with the va on low and made468 and 833,the i ran the tst bumped to 8-8 and went 469 and836....cwith max post egt and 800.now for some info the crazy larry is much faster on the street strip than the tst.i dont have the stock fuel system changed but will be dropping the tank this week to figure out a new fuel pick up and pump system and run a larger line to the pump.also although i was told it wouldnt on the crazy larry on the street it runs much smother on the shifts, and i noticed today on the dyno that it runs the rpms up to to almost 3500 were as the tstdrops off at 3150...and the larry tune raises the top speed to over 120 mph,but there is a slight bump around 105-108..the tst cuts out at 105-108.the new advance diesel cat 4 turbo kept the egts down very low for me,i was only running 40 psi but can get more when i get a better intercooler.lag time is very minute and there is no noticeable noise difference between the cat 4 and stock...more to come....

king d - that's great that you're doing these dynos with your performance upgrades and sharing the information.! I have always wondered about the BDDL/VA C3.1 stack because when I run the stack it just feels really smooth from low to high end. I just have the regular v 1.5 BDDL and noticed the same thing last week with the speed and rpms, but didn't think anything of it at the time because of some open range cattle fast incoming. I'm going to go out tomorrow and do a back road run and verify if the speed/rev limiter has changed.

I noticed the higher revving too. It pulls hard to 3500, but I thought the crazy larry would've dynoed higher than that. I wonder if crashcade has done anything else to dyno at 498rwhp.
King d, do you have 3.73s?

Did you stack the VA with the TST during the dyno runs?

Also was the did power increase or carry to 3500rpms with the crazy larry program?
Picture of the dyno sheets would be nice if you could provide them.

yes i ran the va with the tst but kept the va on the low setting.i have tried to run the crazy larry with the tsts but it didnt sound happy,i am gonna play some more with itas for power on the dyno sheet it shows that the tst starts to loose hp and tq at about 2900 rpm and cuts out at 3100, the larry peaks at 300 and caries it to about 3200 then drops off steadily to cut out about 3450-3475,sorry i dont have a way to post the dyno graphs but il try

CLDL Dyno Results

I'd have to say there is something wrong. There have been numerous dyno runs for the BDDL in the low 400's. I'm messing with the CLDL right now and have had the BDDL and there is no comparison. Our local dyno has been ruffed up a bit lately so I can't help you all with this issue.

What was more impressive then the numbers king d put down was how quiet his truck was at those numbers. The set up right now is definitely a sleeper. If I did not see the dyno run I would never have guessed he was putting that much power to the ground. I am going to try the VA with my TST because I was very impressed at the over all power curve that was sustained. Good job Jess

not realy sure about the specifics being let out ,i got it from doug at Advance Diesel Technology.it is what he calls a cat 4 turbo.bigger wheel but small housing so spool time is almost stock.major drop in egts.it was a rather big PITFA to put on but the end results seem to be worth while.turbo is sposed tomake 70 psi of boost and take a big hit of nos when it all gets set up to optimal perfromance

Did you run the Crazy Larry w/o the VA box on? I wouldn't think the VA could help the CL and possibly hurt it...

I thought there are 2 VA boxes available
C3.1 - Pressure
C3.2 - Duration

Yes that is correct I was thinking of the C3.2. Although they both hook to the same ECM connector. It would have been very interesting to see what the crazy larry ran alone in this situation.
