Added a cool blue hose this week. Made the turbo a little louder but have not put my foot in it yet. I did notice the overhead was running about a mile and half higher.

How do you really like your turbine 4040 muffler?

 

Did you pull the silencer ring also? I put the same hose on mine, and removed the silencer ring at the turbo inlet. Now I can hear that sweet turbo sound. I need to get the Aeroturbine on the new truck soon, as the combo. of the cool tube, and the Aeroturbine 4040 on the 05 really suited me well.

 

I did away with the ring several months ago. The problem I have now with going away from a stock muffler is the noise in the cab while pulling a 5er. How loud is the 4040?

 

I liked the way it sounded, louder than stock, but not excessive. It had a nice deep tone without being raspy. I did not have a big honking exhaust tip like some people use. I just cut off the factory 4'' pipe just behind the rear end after the turndown, but before the turn towards the side of the truck. It looks good to me, and it keeps the soot from constantly getting all over the right rear of the truck all of the time. I was able to carry on a normal conversation at 70 mph, even pulling a 10K gooseneck. I could hear the turbo more than the exhaust.

 

does the COOL BLUE HOSE just replace the intake tub? Do you replace the filter or filter box with another type? By the way I just put on a AERO TURBINE 4040xl on my truck today. So far I love it and it isn't much louder than the stock muffler unless you really get on it and then it has a good roar.

 

I'm not sure if I'm going to do that with the Amsoil drop in or spend some $$$ and get the AFE Stage 2. What do you guys think?

 

It replaces the factory intake silencer assembly. It goes from turbo inlet to factory air cleaner box without having to modify the box or filter. It has a couple of stainless inserts inside the hose to prevent it from sucking closed. It works great on my mildly modified truck.
