convert 3.5 exhaust at turbo yo 4 question

Hey guys pretty to the oil burners but having alot of fun so far. My other toy is a zo6. I have it cammed and allthe bolt on's 575whp and around 500lbs @ 3,100 lbs it's fun! I just got my truck a 2003 2500 305 H.O. I have already gotten a smarty true flow intake, flowtech 4' muffler and 5' tip. It's very impressive. I want to make a true 4'on the cheap becuase I'm not gonna keepthis paticular long. So do I need down pipe and a elbow pipe from a 2004.5 or newer truck? Will all that just bolt up to mine and have my muffler shop add a 4' piece? The truck has only 40,000 miles I want to be able to crank my Smarty up to level 9 and have no fear of the tranny taking a dump.
But this truck is a long bed 2wd so I'm only gonna drive it till a sweet shortbox truck comes through my RV dealership. So I was thinking with its low milage and the fact it was pampered I could put a t/c and valve body in with the related small parts and be done with it. Your thought's on this? Also whitch t/c suncoast? witch valvebody? What is the deal with the switch to lock the t/c would that give me duability? Can I do this now? These Dodge auto's have always made me nervous everyone I have had acts weird one way or another. Anyways thank's guy's

If you want to run sw9 you might need some billet tranny parts. You will also find upgrading your lift pump will help out alot. The gdp kit or a fass will do the trick. And later on down the road a turbo will help put your egts in check. You will also want to get an adjustable boost elbow to allow more boost out of your turbo (35psi is as far as you want to go on a stock turbo).

Ok Should I get the down pipe from dodge and get a adjustable elbow pipe from who? On this year truck is it a tough job to replace the lift pump or does the faast work with the stock pump? What about the switch to manually lock the t/c?

the 4" cast elbow that is connected to the turbo. Usually around $50 used. then aftermarket 4" exhaust (turbo back) after that. Stock, it is 3.5" from turbo to the muffler now, 4" after the muffler. you could get the cast elbow then a 4" downpipe to the stock muffler then neck it down to fit, but why?

It is not a big job to replace stock lift pump. Can be done in a few hours. On an 03 it is easier than 04.5 and up because the lift pump is mounted behind the fuel filter and not in the tank. FASS or GDP ar the two popular choices, both are excellent, I have the latter. None work "with" the stock pump. You either remove the LP completely (to use the stock filter housing) or route around it using a different filter.

Do a search for the definitive T/C lockup switch thread here. It is quite easy to do, I've done it and it works well.

You will need a new v-band clamp for the down pipe side of the new cast elbow, you can reuse the clamp on the turbo side.
I am pretty sure the part number for the clamp is 52121285AA

I remember a thread posted a couple years ago by tommygun with a good how to on this sudject. Do a search. You will need the elbow and clamp and downpipe. Those 3 items will get you started. I have one here I am going to do the same thing soon. I think tommygun said something about grinding off a small locating pin on the elbow so it could be rotated a little for a good fit. I'll find out when I do mine, didn't sould like a big deal.

Question Choice of exhaust size

What factors are involved in choosing exhaust size? turboback or catback? Is the relationship proportional re. bigger exhaust equals bigger noise? I'm interested how I could get more HP out of my stock 07 Mega with the 5.9L auto with out increasing the noise level too much. The exhaust only has 18K on it, do I need to change it out or modify for better performance? Thanks.
