Cig lighter for gauge power

I just read the post bout using the cigarette lighter power wire for the gauges.
Could I still use the cigarette lighter, or would it pop the fuse because of the gauges?

I used mine for a gauge power and it works fine with other items plugged.

Should have a 15 amp fuse for the cig lighter so there's plenty of power for the gauges and accessories.

Most of my gauges and add on accessories are ground to the metal framework close to the right screw on the bottom of the access cover under the steering wheel. I think there was already a ground screw there for something to start with, but not sure. Five ground cables on that screw now. Did I make that confusing enough??

Just a tip for those using A-pillar pods...don't hassle with running power wires all the way to your cig lighter. On my 05 I had a fairly large connector on the A-pillar. I'm assuming it ran power to the dome light and auto dimming rear view mirror. There was a ground and a switched, ignition only (not accessory), power wire that I tapped into for my gauges. It was nice to use this wiring instead to avoid having one more pair of wires to fish down behind the dash. I don't remember the ignition power wire color....I think it was small red (not large red). The ground wire in the connector is black.
