No power to Cig lighter

06 and have checked the fuse box and the fuse was fine. My son was running a converter with his x-box T.V and charging his cell and Ipod. All unknown to me. Wondering if a wire that provides power could have melted.

There is also no power to the outlet in the center consel.

Ayn ideas

bump for an answer--

an electrical guy should know.

The center console outlet should be power full time. The cigar lighter outlet is key-on powered.
Should be different circuits.

I believe the power outlet at the bottom of the center dash and the center console/armrest are the same circuit.

Check the power at the back of the lighter. If present, it's whatever you're trying to plug in. Have you tried a different item?

If no power, check the cigar fuse hole, not just the fuse. If that is good with power present at key on, then you've got wiring issues that you need to trace back.

Let me know.

Looks like the Lighter fuse is #40
The console outlet fuse is #1
The dash outlet fuse is # 38

soulezoo- is corect the lighter and outlets are seperate circuits.

Here are your wiring diagrams. 8W-41-3 and 8W-41-4

My 12V outlet in console and lighter socket on dash had same issue. Turned out that the factory sockets themselves went bad. seems the sockets are riveted together and the connection is a contact only connection (NO hard connection). After time, the connection gets oxidized or loose and NO continiuty. SOOO, to correct this, I took the sockets and drove a thin wedge of solder between the mating surfaces of each with dielectric grease on it and VIOLA, both are working. Beats the trumped up price from the mothership for replacement sockets that are sure to do the same exact thing over time.

It actually just pulls off. The clips are very tight. Just pry a lower corner of the silver bezel with a wide blade screwdriver and work your way around.

Thanks !!! I very carefully pryed on the Bezel and metal housing then pryed the plastic holder out . There was no power to the plug ,, rather than fight it ,,,, I simply cut and insulated end of ( dead ) hot wire , just in case,

Ran another wire to the fuse box with inline fuse , wired all together and works fine ... it is hot all the time but that is fine with me .

I have a small inverter in my van and the truck. Tried to run 2 laptops in the van and the circuit could not handle the load. Damaged a relay and blew a fuse. Had to pull each fuse one at a time to find it. The chart did not help.

I will be rewireing the inverter directly to the battery with a 30 amp fuse in line and #10 wire. 200 watts from the inverter will pull more than 20 amps from the 12 volt circuit.
