You won't see a difference in smoke. You'll get some horsepower down low when your not making a lot of boost. There are dyno results of a lightly modified Cummins making over 50 extra horses in the lower RPMs with one. However, the test truck had a grid delete too. Personally, I've seen good results with my CFM+.

07CTD,

fill out your signature so we know what you've got.

I like the looks and what the CFM+ adds to the truck on the bottom end. but I personally think if you had other "must have's" you needed to get like gauges I'd get those first.

The CFM intake posted good results in the 1600-2200 rpm range. Best gain is 57.7hp/159tq over stock @ 1900rpms.

MikeyB, I just read some of that thread, don't have time to read it all yet. It doesn't seem remotely possible to gain that much power from 18" or so of any material... I could totally see 10, maybe 20 hp.... but how the heck...???

i thought the same thing trik, but when you get the stock one off you can see the restrictions, it is more responsive down low and the egts dropped which was my biggest reason for getting it

Hey, I did the testing and couldnt beleive it. I expected 0-30 HP or so. I would imagine that a stock truck might see that. With the common mods, they just seem to help a bunch. Every one we have installed has helped drop egts as much as 100degrees pulling a hill, so that alone is worth it!

I installed my CFM as a result of the tests Erik did. I was another skeptic. Now that it is on, I can say definitively it makes a difference. It is certainly not snake oil.

I've had the Banks horn on for awhile now. Not that I wanted it, but I needed a better intercooler (mine was plastic) and the tubing is larger than stock so I had no choice but to use it.

If you see the inside the CFM+, you'll understand why. Its got a big opening and very smooth on the inside, and I've notice cooler egts, alot easier to cool the turbo down in the summer.

Do you really need the heater grid or what do you do on the cooler mornings when you don't have it?

Its supposedly not necessary to have unless you're further north in constant negative temperatures. I keep mine because it came with the truck and every little bit helps.
