My friend made me a very cool very sturdy CB mounting bracket for my 3rd gen. It requires drilling 6 holes in the floor however I decided to be the guinea pig and cut open the carpet to confirm that there is nothing under there. When the cupholder is down it does NOT touch the cb!

I am surprised that Cobra and other companies do not sell both vertical and horizontal brackets because this is the only decent way to mount the CB in this truck.

 

I got mine mounted the same way in my '01, then mounted my brake controller to the back of the CB radio.
