Why do they make a whining noise when mounted next to the battery? I'd rather have it mounted under the hood than under the truck, and I wouldn't want to deal with the extra noise. I mean my trucks loud enough as it is.

From what I've read on this site & on others, the hum is caused by harmonics
produced by the oil pump. The filter mount I have is actually mounted on the
engine block & works EXTREMELY well.

I made mine. Simple , it's lasted 5+ yrs and no major mods. I bought a piece of angle aluminum, a piece of 1/2 inch PVC for spacer and mounted it to the rt battery. I used that propane aluminum welding rod to beef it up. Overall it took about 1 1/2 hrs to plan and build.
Soon as I get home from work I'll find a pic and post it on my gallery.
Mine doesn't make any noise, but if it does it would have to be from a restriction in the line or the bypass valve in the filter letting by.
