cam and spring combo

Hi Guys

I am looking at doing a engine build. This truck is going to be driven 2,ooo miles a week for my transport business. Eventually I will do compound turbos, Flux 2s or 3s and big CP3.

The motor is a 2004.5 going into a Ford F550

What spring and cam combo would be the best for what I am going to be doing?

Also are their girdle kits available for this motor?

what studs are best to run?

thanks,
Andrew

I personally like F1 products..... I would choose the Helix 2 cam and the pro sprtsman springs.

As for studs ARP is what I run, I have installed countless sets on engines with no failures.

There is a girdle kit available, the one I prefer can be seen here: http://www.performancedieselwarehouse.com/1660210.html

how much boost can the stock HG take on daily basis?

The factory common rail motors already have a factory girdle installed on the bottom end that is pretty stout.

Just some info on my Scheid cam it's probably no better then the rest. About a 200 degree overall egt drop between the street and sled pull track some less some more. Alot better turbo spool makes that 66 lite instantly. I run Don's sportmans springs no real notice there other then I can make her sing in the rpms without worrying about nothing. There is a couple other threads going about cams right now. Corey has one going somewhere.

I'm running the F-1 Helix 2.

I would not touch anyone else's cam for a high mile truck. Some of the other cams on the market have very aggressive ramps that might be an advantage in racing(don't bet on it), but will put more stain on the valvetrain....I wouldn't do it.

In fact, I suspect the F-1 ramps are easier on the valvetrain than even the stock cam.
The Helix cam and Sportsman valve springs are designed to work together.....Another no brainer for a high mile setup.

The cam does make the turbos more responsive and does help lower EGT's.

The stud girdle is an utter waste of money....This ain't no Powerstoke.
Save your money for the transmission.
