Cab Clearance Lights

My 2500 didn't come with cab clearance lights and I'm thinking of putting some on.

Couple of questions here. First, who makes a good aftermarket kit? and second, do smoked lenses really show any light or are they just for showing off in the daytime?

I don't want anything that sits a foot off the cab, a nice stealthy look will do.

Any ideas/pics?

725, if you go to the members photo galleries you can pull my truck up and see a pic with smoked RECON cab lights on and off during the day.

I have the smoked recons and they are bright enough, they just don't light up the complete housing, only the front.

I put the recon clear cab lights on my 03 and wish I would of just put the factory lights on. The recons only came with the lights and a few inches of wire, they are more for replacing existing lights. I went to a junkyard and got factory light for my 98. I got all the lights and wiring for $50.

I got the recon smoked and really like them. They are bright enough during the night and not ugly during the day. Made my own wiring harness, easy enough to do. The only issue I have is that they seem to have a weird frequency hum at about 90 mph going into a 25 mph headwind. Not really bad, but enough to wake up the wife.

^^^^ Hahahaha thats funny. Nope, never really had it much past the 90 mark. It was a brutal headwind that day though... Things were ok when I set the cruise at 85 mph.

Cab clearance lights are ugly. I agree they look like orange warts on your roof.

i bought the light kit from dodge. it was vehilce specific (yr models) and it was a lil over $100. came with everything i needed, except the 1/4" drill bit and 7/8" hole saw.
plenty of wire for sure. just tapped into a wire on the passenger side under the a-pillar. lights come on with parking lights. looks like it came from the factory

The recons are really nice. They're stealthy, and they look really good at night

I'm not much for pimped out wheels on a truck either, unless you have curb feelers, then they are okay, but I wouldn't say they are ugly, just not for me.

who needs marker lights? If you haven't determined clearance before-hand, the lights won't do you any good!

The purpose of cab clearance lights is let oncoming traffic know you are a wided width than 83" or something like that. Technically needed if you pull a trailer that is wider than the 83", but most DOT's don't enforce. I have been warned twice in Virginia, but still haven't add the cab lights. Don't like them for the possibility of leaks.
