Re:Cab clearance lights ?'s

Ive seen posts on this before - they said that the lights from the dealer are a complete set and are of very good quality - while some of the aftremarket kits are not complete and are of questionable quality.

If I could easily take mine off and fill the holes Id let ya have mine - cant stand the things.

Re:Cab clearance lights ?'s

I bought a set for my old truck and they were like $50 or $60 from a local aftermarket shop (who also installed them). If your doing the install yourself, I would probably just get them from the dealer for $80.

Re:Cab clearance lights ?'s

We just put the factory lights on mine about 2 months ago, and with the template it is not hard at all. The kit from DC comes with everything you need to install them. Took my brother and I about 1.5 hours from start to finish. Take your time and be careful with the headliner, you only need to drop the front of it to wire the lights. And no, the harness is not already tucked in behind the liner.

Tiny, How did you run the wiring up to the headliner ?
Any suggestions ?...How about the hole size you drilled thru
the top of the truck ?..what diameter and did you prepare
the exposed metal so it wont rust ?

Thx, 03CTDCO

Re:Cab clearance lights ?'s

I got the kit from DC as stated, and it came with all the lights, the harness, the plugs for the holes you drill, the template, the screws, everything but the bulbs. If I remember correctly, the bulbs are 194s.

To pull down the front half of the headliner, you have to remove both A pilars, visors, grab handles, and the quad latch covers. Be careful if you have the overhead display, that you move the wires out of the way prior to drilling. Tape the template over the windshield, use a punch to mark your holes, remove the template, and start drilling. We used a stepped bit, which is an amazing little tool! If you do not have a stepped bit, drill a pilot hole then drill the larger holes. Install the grommets that came with the kit, feed wires through hole, install plugs to screw into, insert bulbs into receptacle, plug receptacle into the light, and screw light onto roof.

Now go inside, spread the harness from side to side, complete the wiring connections, and run harness wire down the driver side A pillar, and tie into light switch. Reinstall headliner and accessories, turn on lights and enjoy.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, sounds like you left out the part about crackin a beer open, i think at least 2 beers is required before one starts to drill holes into their truck..... thanks for the insight on the install tiny.

Re:Cab clearance lights ?'s

I think Dodgeboy59 added the lights to his truck. You may want to contact him.

It couldnt be very hard to do. Plus save you a ton of money for more high performance goodies.
