Bruteforce too loud?

Hey guys, first things first, thanks for all the great info on this site!! I have been reading as much as I could from you all for about a year and have found all that I needed to know from searching this site. This is my first question that I could not find a specific answer to.

I am looking for a dry filter intake and I like what I hear about the AEM Bruteforce. It sounds like there was some initial questions about it's flow rate being subpar, but that has turned out not to be the case (I believe). My question is about the noise and this intake. It sounds like the whistle with this intake is pretty loud. That's fine with me, but not my wife. I was wondering if anyone has acutually taken this intake off because it was too loud or regrets getting it because of the noise. If I left the silencer ring in how loud would it be? Thanks in advance!

This is my first post, if my sig doesn't show up I have an '06 2500 SLT with gauges and a Quad tow box on the way.

I like everything loud so I guess I am biased.

If you left the silencer ring in I believe it would not be too loud. It will definitely be louder than stock but not that bad. Take the ring out along with the new intake though and it will sing it's beautiful song loud and proud

I have one on order, and the UPS website says it is suppossed to be in today (thursday), I will have it on by the weekend and can tell you my impressions of it versus stock, and versus the Scotty V. Which will be going up for sale if I like the new AEM.

I've got the Bruteforce. It does whistle loudly. It can be annoying on longer trips. I insulated the tube to the turbo to try to reduce heat soak and perhaps lessen the noise. It's still a screamer...

One thing I forgot to ask...do you have an auto or manual tranny? I've got a manual so it only really sings when I get into it. Now my friends with autos are different...the turbo always seems to be working hard and singing. I hear the turbo WAY more on the auto trucks and the manual trucks.

Yea I took mine off after about six months. The whistle was ok. But the air noise (sucking sounds) were very annoying. It also bothered my wife, who in turned bothered me. I used the AEM filter for a while in my s&B. Now I have replaced the Dryflow with a Amsoil Nano.

Sorry, it's the six speed.

So, NB64, you now run the Amsoil filter in the S&B intake, it that right? Did you feel that you lost anything going with that setup...besides the noise?

If you are running a Amsoil filter in the S&B box, what is the number filter # ? Is it a good fit? This is what I'm thinking about doing.
