Brand of Powerwagon locker

What brand is the powerwagon locker? I have a guy with a factory powerwagon locker for sale and he says that I don't need to do any grinding to install it. But it's an Eaton E-locker. I just don't want to get douped.

CAn't find any "concrete" info, but I would venture to say that there aren't too many people making an e-locker for the 9.25 front axle in these. Just my $.02. Probably is a usable unit.

That's the guy I talked to. I'm just want to be sure he knows what he's talking about before I buy it. I'd hate to have a shop tell me it's not going to fit because I don't feel comfortable having someone grinding in my diff housing.

I don't know for sure but as far as I know, there isn't a locker that works on the new cummins yet. I think the power wagon has different axles. I've been to 4wheel parts and mikes offroad about a dozen times just seeing if theres one out yet and they always tell me no. Supposedly ARB is working on one and will be the first with one

The front axle in our truck is the same as the one under a hemi, the 9.25 AAM. The rears are different, 11.5 for the diesel and 10.5 for the hemi. So as far as I know, the powerwagon front locker would work on our trucks. Dodge doesn't sell aftermarket locker kits though so I'm not sure this guys locker will work without altering the axle housing like some have done.

It seems I have read that even installing one out of a power wagon required grinding the inside of the pumpkin. Could it be related to the power wagon having 4.56 gears and most of us having 3.73? If there is no carrier break, I don't see why, though.

I didn't know the 1500 mega had the same front axle as a cummins equiped truck. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense seeing as how heavy are trucks are in the front. I guess the 1500's just have a really beefy front axle??

I don't think the gear change would affect the locker. If anything, the smaller size of the ring gear with 3.73 would help with clearence. Unless they only change the pinion gear, then the ring gear would be the same in both setups.

I have done a fair amount of research on this subject in the past...the factory PW lockers are not eaton or ARB...they are made by AAM and are called TrackRite.

All the PW's are 2500's and have a 9.25 up front (same as the CTD's) and a 10.5 in the rear (CTD's have the 11.5).

The PW's 10.5 rear axle has limited slip with a selectable locker (very similar to the rubicon). It is also modified to use the same size axle shafts as the 11.5" axles...

The front axle on the PW's looks seems to be pretty much the same and i don't think you have to grind anything (drill, yes) to use the PW locker.
Also I remeber reading about the PW's Alcoa rims having more bead seat area than the standard dodge alloys. Hope this helps !!!

Thanks red. I found that out earlier today. I'm waiting on a reply from AAM to see if they will sell me a TracRite EL for the 9.25 axle. We'll see I what kind of response I get.
