Bottom line on Modded CP3

Okay, I have spent the better part of 5 hours reading and reading search on CP3. I have wondered what the next step I should take to make with my truck and What Don M said in the d-max thread piqued my interest on the CP3 and put me in the right direction.

What CP3 should I be looking for? Are there different levels of modded CP3's? The twin CP3 is out of my price range by PPE. Floor-it has a pump that I am interested in finding out the cost. Any others -please list them.

Any and all info on the pump and EVERYONES opinion is greatly appreciated!

I figure you guys will say that I will need injectors and a turbo to get the max HP also. So what about those?

I bought the I.I. stage 2 pump. When I added the Dynomite 90 hp injectors, I was only able to turn the tst up to 4 before the truck would lay over, build heat, and smoke. After the addition of the II pump, I could turn the tst up to level 6. I added the Dual Feed line the day after I installed the pump, and again was able to turn up the tst 1 additional level (to 7). I noticed that the trucks power curve seemed much smoother.

Well Dan I was in your shoes about 2 months ago. I went with a Floor Stage 3 pump. It maybe his stage 2 pump now as it had some new stuff added after he did some more testing. I think the pump work is like 1000-1300 I don't remember what the price was for sure.

Now on the turbo side I did a ton of research on that and I went for it. I went with a large single and it is a HTT ProStreet 66. I love it so far and I can't really tell that it is a large turbo now after the pump and injectors.

I went with Don M Flux injectors. I have a custom set of them and they are what you call a 3.5 or so. They work well with my setup and make great power. With what you see here and a bad TST I put down 671 hp and little over 1300 tq. That was with a couple of mods and a Smarty. I am loving this truck now and I have the TST back and on the truck waiting some dyno time.

How much power are you wanting to make? Modded single CP3's are good for over 650 HP with single turbos and over 700 with twins.

Modded CP3's will hold the rail pressure at these power levels in the 17K range with larger than stock injectors.

Dual Cp3's are going to be the ticket, but have caveats:

1) Probably will get "written out" in sled pulling regs, if not already

2) Cost VS a single modded CP3

We have it lucky on the durability side with the Cummins, so I forsee a Cummins comeback when we get caught up in the coming weeks/months on power.

My HP numbers are based on a DynoJet, conservative and very easily repeated anywhere in the country.

I honestly think we are on the verge of 800 HP twin trucks that have EGT levels in the 1300 degree range while pulling. The parts are all finished, now to get everyone together and make it all work.

Need more RPM (not that much though) Don not just HP.

DHRA is allowing dual cp3's according to their 2007 rules.

I dont think fuel is an issue at all anymore....
Now me must focus on EGT's and keeping the motor together. So far mine has held together well (knock on wood!).

Yeah, your right, so far the work and stock class cant, but the HOT is good to go with dual pumps.

I wonder how long it will be once the duals get "regged out" when the winning starts?

First off thanks to all so far. Especially Sloverado. Don -I would like to see 650 at rear.... anything over 700 isnt worrying me (for now) . I want to stay away from twin turbos.

The thing is, this past summer I just kept thinking there is something missing that would put my truck over the top. It runs great, and I am very happy, but it seemed like it had more in it and I couldnt 'get it out'.

After reading and listening to everyone I feel this is it. Now, what direction to take? Turbo/injectors first - or pump first.

Sloverado - did you buy the pump or send yours off.

Dan I am 2 hours away from Floor It. I took my truck there and had John do the work on the pump. While he did the pump he sent my injectors to Don and had them done.

I just sent off an entry form for the Diesel Power Challange for this coming year. I am going to sled pull this 2007 season.

Well, I do everything with it. Tow/haul, travel, drag and sled pull.

Man I hope I can still get away with traveling if I go with these upgrades! I love getting away from the locals and whipping up on the boys down at the beach

BTW - I do have two other upgrades scheduled for my tranny in march. Intermediate shaft and an output shaft.

where are you from. So what you are saying is that they modify the existing pump in their shop.
